Former artist Zaira Wasim was trolled badly on Twitter as she mentioned some Quranic verses about the locust attack.

Zaira’s tweet got sparked when she quoted a verse from the Holy Quran. She tweeted, “So We sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood: Signs openly self-explained: but they were steeped in arrogance- a people given to sin -Qur’an 7:133.”

Soon after her tweet, she was being trolled by the users, reason being insensitive towards people who suffered loss. The situation got so worst that it made the Dangal actress remove all her accounts on social media.

A section of Twitterati came in defense of Zaira and started a trend ‘Stand with Zaira.’

A user wrote, “#ZairaWasim What did she done now..I mean she just wrote a verse from her religious book. Please don't hate her.”

Some users think its Zaira’s right to speak her heart as it comes under freedom of speech. One user wrote, “If simply quoting a verse from the Qur'an can get you so much hate, then so be it. I #StandWithZaira. sharing your beliefs on your personal social media space shouldn't be something problematic. #StandWithZairaWasim.”

Another Twitterati wrote, “This is a verse of quran chapter 7:133. I don't understand what's wrong if we share this. Why people are not allowing to share or quote from a holy book. #ZairaWasim #standwithzairawasim.”

Zaira Wasim waved good bye to the film industry in 2019 with the last film ‘The Sky is Pink.’
