Anurag Kashyap Opens Up About the Struggle To Stay Out of Politics
Anurag revealed at the release of Netflix film Choked
Bollywood’s leading film director and actor Anurag Kashyap who is famous for his crime drama scripts debuted with Ram Gopal Verma’s film Satya in 1998. Since then, he is considered as one of the strong script writers and director of B-town. Various movies like Gangs of Wasseypur till sacred games, the transparent and flammable content has leaded him to success.
This time, Anurag has come up with another strong script for Netflix series ‘Choked.’ The film highlights a middle class family who faces the dent in a marriage. Finding the right cast and wrapping up for the release, it took almost five years.
Anurag Kashyap opened up about the script which was received by him in 2015, “We essentially wanted to make it around this woman who works in a bank and a marriage facing dent due to financal crisis. One day the woman finds money-- 'magically'. We were working on it for long as I felt something was amiss and then demonetisation happened. By then, we had already worked on like 3-4 drafts for the film, and we realised that this will be the perfect background to it. Essentially the story is about a middle-class family and their struggle with money with demonetisation building up the story but that is not the prime focus."
The director emphasized on the point of keeping the politics out from his movies and said, “I struggled to keep my politics out of the script. It was a struggle, no doubt. I would keep telling myself you cannot mix the two. This is a story of Sushant and Sarita and not Anurag. But, I always try to keep my personal politics out of my films and stick to reality. I try to be objective. We don't want to preach through our films.”
The Netflix film ‘Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai’ has released on June 5, 2020 which starred Saiyami Kher and Roshan Mathew as lead cast.
