Armeena Khan Is Not Interested In Meeting Ertugrul Star Cavit Çetin Güner In Islamabad
Armeena Khan Is Not A Fan Of the Turkish Actor
It seems like actress Armeena Khan is not a big fan of the hit Turkish historical television drama serial, Dirilis Ertugrul. The show has become somewhat of a phenomenon in Pakistan ever since the lockdown began in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With five seasons and 448 episodes on Netflix, the show has garnered worldwide popularity and especially in Pakistan where the cast members are being revered and talked about just as members of the Pakistanis' own families. However, it seems that not everyone is feeling the love and wanting to play host to our esteemed guests as Armeena Khan is not really interested in meeting Cavit Çetin Güner, who arrived in Islamabad yesterday evening.
The unprecedented fame received by the Turkish actors through Dirilis: Ertugrul can be verified by seeing how much they are being loved on social media and the fact that they are coming to Pakistan, one by one, to give back some of the love that they are receiving of late.
One such actor of Ertugrul fame is Cavit Çetin Güner, who plays Dogan Alp on the hit television series. Following in the footsteps of Esra Bilgic and Engin Altan, Cavit Çetin Güner has come to Pakistan, much to the Pakistanis' excitement.
With many Pakistani superstars praising and meeting our esteemed Turkish brethren, not everyone is pleased with the recent showering of love and affection thrown our guests' way. Armeena Khan has taken a leaf out of Yasir Hussain's book and said that she is uninterested in meeting Cavit Çetin Güner after he arrived in Islamabad.
Yasir Hussain has been very vocal about his disdain for the Turkish actors and the drama, in particular, saying that we should promote our own content instead of ogling over foreign content. In any case, Armeena Khan was asked by a fan to host a meet and greet with the recently arrived Turkish star but it looks like the 34-year-old may have to head back home without meeting her.
Armeena Khan replied to the fan's message on Instagram by saying:
“Umm, welcome to him, and may he have a great time with you his fans. But why would I do that? Mera rishtaydaar tow nahi hai? Begaani shaadi mein Abdulli dewaani? No offense to anyone.”
This message did not go down too well with Pakistanis who criticized the actress over her remarks. Armeena Khan later clarified her justified her stance by saying:
“Really? If you’re going to disrespect me over other actors then you never respected me in the first place. Now go about your business and don’t you dare threaten me again! I’m here for my fans not disrespectful, seasonal people like you. Idiot.”
Armeena Khan has recently started work on her drama and is all set to make a comeback to the small screen after a three-year break.
I know my people are out there, the rest don’t matter. People who know, KNOW ME. If you swear at me I will swear right back at you. I don’t hold my punches. I don’t like duplicity, I don’t like fake. I am what I am - Like Marmite. You either love me or hate me and THAT is okay. I stand by everything I say.
Meanwhile, Turkish actor Cavit Çetin Güner arrived in Islamabad and turned to Instagram to share a short video clip of Pakistani folk music and wrote:
“Gooood morning, Islamabad, Pakistan.”
