Now, the Palestinian and Dutch heritage American model has hit out at social media platform, Instagram, for censoring a post that stated her father Mohammed Hadid was born in Palestine, after she shared a photo of his passport.
Bella Hadid, who has over 31 million followers on Instagram, is well within her right to feel aggrieved. Through her story, she revealed that an Instagram story she published earlier, had been taken down by the social media platform, as it apparently breached the company's guidelines. The earlier story read:
"My baba and his birthplace of Palestine"
"Instagram removed my story that only said "My baba And his birthplace of Palestine" with a photograph of his American passport."
Bella Hadid then went on to challenge Instagram by asking:
"@instagram exactly what part of me being proud of my father's birthplace of Palestine is "bullying, harassment, graphic, or sexual nudity" ?"
She didn't hold back her disgust and continued:
"Are we not allowed to be Palestinian on Instagram? This, to me, is bullying. You can't erase history by silencing people. It doesn't work like that."
Bella received a flurry of messages of support from everyone over Instagram's unfair treatment of her.
