This isn't the first time that Bench has received such rave reviews as the short film was previously nominated in the best short film category at the Independent Short Awards Festival in Los Angeles, USA, and the third South Asian Short Film Festival.

Due to the ongoing pandemic situation, the judges have had to watch the film online and then vote on it. According to Usman Mukhtar, the short film has also been submitted to various other festivals including Cannes, Busan, and Toronto Film Fest.
