Biding Farewell To Firdous Begum
Things You Didn’t Know About The Legendary Firdous Begum
Pakistani legendary actress Firdous Begum, widely known for her role in the Pakistani film Heer Ranjha, took leave for her eternal abode.
According to her close family and friends, Begum Firdous was taken to the hospital where she was being treated after a brain hemorrhage but unfortunately she couldn’t survive and took her last breathe this Tuesday.
Firdous begum ruled the Pakistani cinema industry for many years, specially the 60’s and 70’s. She joined the industry at a young age and debuted in 1963 with the film “Fanoos”, then went on to do “Malangi” two years later, which totally soared her potential in films as a lead actress. Her incredible film career spanned to almost 150 or more films in multiple languages, which included urdu and punjabi. Her most iconic performance till date is considered to be in old time classic “Heer Ranjha”, where she romanced her second husband and main lead in Heer Ranjha, Ijaz Durani.
The marriage however did not last long but lasted long enough for husband Ijaz Durani to honor Firdous Begum by opening a market place in Lahore and naming it after Firdous Begum. The market still stands in the forgotten parts of Lahore. Much like Firdous Begum’s career where the glamour faded and the atrocities of life continued to burden the famous actress after she left showbiz and moved away to a quieter part in town.
Firdous begum spent her last moments with her children, two daughters and her son. Who were all beside her to comfort her. We send prayers and extend condolences to the grieving family, friends and fans of the iconic Firdous Begum, may she rest in eternal peace.
