There is some good and bad news for fans of the Fast & Furious franchise movies. The good news is that we are getting two more Fast & Furious movies. The bad news, however, is that these two upcoming movies will be the last installments in the highly profitable series.
The long-running Fast And Furious franchise will come to an end after the forthcoming 10th and 11th films have released.
Justin Lin will direct what will be the 10th and 11th films in the series. The ninth film in the franchise will be released in May 2021, having been put back a year by the Covid-19 pandemic. It is titled F9.
The action-packed film series began in 2001 with The Fast and the Furious, starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and the late Paul Walker.
The franchise has since expanded to incorporate eight direct sequels, one movie spin-off, and an animated TV series, earning billions of dollars along the way and garnering millions of fans. It has attained the status of a cult franchise and it hugely popular not just among car enthusiasts but fans of the action genre movies.
The ninth film brings back Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Lucas Black, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, and Sung Kang among others. John Cena is the new entrant in the cast. He plays Jakob, brother of Diesel’s Dom Toretto.
According to sources, the final two films are likely to tell "a big story" that will reunite all the series' core cast members.
