Father of Britney Spears Calls #FreeBritney A Conspiracy Theory
Jamie Spears Has His Say On #FreeBritney
Britney Spears is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress who has been credited with the revival of teen pop during the late 1990s and the early 2000s. She is also referred to as the Princess of Pop.
Britney enjoys a worldwide fandom, in millions, which is reminiscent of her social media following as well. The Grammy Award-winning singing icon appeared on her Instagram Live last month for a quick Q&A session with her fans, where she revealed that her three desires would be love, happiness, and world supply of designer clothes.
However, her Instagram appearance was marred by the #FreeBritney hashtag.
Fans say the 38-year-old superstar is being manipulated and controlled under the grounds of her conservatorship. Under the hashtag #freebritney, they're calling for the end of her conservatorship.
Britney Spears, who has more than 24.8 million Instagram followers, was quick to squash any rumors of #FreeBritney as she put on a smiling face for her fans. However, there seems to be no end in sight to the conspiracy theories.
Jamie Spears, father of Britney Spears, is also very sick and tired of all these conspiracy theories surrounding her daughter. He was seemingly upset as he revealed that the campaign, which posits him as a cruel and opportunistic father keeping the 38-year-old pop princess under his emotional and financial control in a 12-year-long legal conservatorship, “is a joke.”
"All these conspiracy theorists don't know anything. The world [doesn't] have a clue. It's up to the court of California to decide what's best for my daughter. It's no one else's business."
"I have to report every nickel and dime spent to the court every year. How the hell would I steal something? People are being stalked and targeted by death threats. It's horrible. We don't want those kinds of fans. I love my daughter.”
Jamie Spears added:
“I love all my kids. But this is our business. It's private."
Fans are not buying any of it as recently, celebrities including Ruby Rose, Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton, Ariel Winter, and Rose McGowan have also lent their support to the #FreeBritney movement, Instagramming and tweeting about how the singer is allegedly unable to make her own decisions about her career, personal life and health because of the ongoing conservatorship.
A Change,org petition reads:
“Her father doesn’t allow her to drive, all of her calls & messages are monitored, she’s not allowed to vote, hang with anyone or spend her money without permission. And if she breaks a ‘rule’ he threatens to have her kids taken away,”
Britney, along with other celebrity artists, is currently facing the effects of the global coronavirus pandemic and the star would dearly love to perform in arenas and stadiums once again as soon as the pandemic subsides. For now, though, it looks like the #FreeBritney hashtag isn't going away anywhere.
