Sir Patrick Stewart celebrates his 80th birthday on July 13, 2020. Over the last 30 years, he has garnered international critical and nerd acclaim for playing two of the most iconic characters in science fiction history, Captain Jean-Luc Picard, and Professor Charles Xavier.

A band of kids embarks on an epic quest to thwart a medieval menace. The film offers a new outlook on the Arthurian legend and focuses on the story of a young boy, Alex, who comes across the legendary sword Excalibur - a moment that changes his life forever. Patrick Stewart plays Merlin in this film and the part fits him perfectly.
4. X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014):
Perhaps the best installment of the X-Men franchise. The X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate effort to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants. Sir Patrick Stewart plays Professor X who is the founder and sometimes leader of the X-Men.

The Borg travels back in time intent on preventing Earth's first contact with an alien species. Captain Picard and his crew pursue them to ensure that Zefram Cochrane makes his maiden flight reaching warp speed. It was Star Trek who first made Patrick Stewart a familiar face to many sci-fi fans. Stewart played Captain Picard in four Star Trek films.

1. Hamlet (TV Movie 2009):
It is a modern spin on Shakespeare's Hamlet and is a filmed-for-television version of their stage production. The Prince of Denmark seeks vengeance after his father is murdered and his mother marries the murderer. Patrick Stewart plays Claudius in the film, Hamlet's father, who's murdered and whose ghost then appears to Hamlet, which starts a whole series of unfortunate events. Stewart gives a memorable performance.
