We are living in a COVID era and a global pandemic has halted life as we know it. It is now, more than ever, significant for everyone to take care of their personal hygiene in order to stay safe and healthy.

Hygiene is a series of practices performed to preserve health. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), "Hygiene refers to conditions and practices that help to maintain health and prevent the spread of diseases."

Personal hygiene refers to maintaining the body's cleanliness.

Healthy habits like brushing teeth, washing hands, eating a variety of nutritious foods, exercising, and getting good sleep all to protect against serious health problems and aid in a better quality of life.

We should start teaching our kids to take care of their hygiene from a very young age.

Handwashing is the topmost priority if one is to lead a healthy and safe life. We should practice washing our hands several times over the course of the day. It is even more important now due to the ongoing pandemic that has plagued the entire world.

Teaching and modeling handwashing starts as soon as children are able to participate in the action. We should all wash our hands properly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water and prevent the spread of germs.

By completing such a simple task of merely washing your hands properly, you are not only protecting your own health but the health of others around you as well. 

Proper handwashing includes five easy steps.

1. Wet hands with clean, running water (warm or cold).

2. Apply soap and rub together, make sure to cover the backs of hands, in between fingers, and under nails.

3. Scrub hands for at least 20 seconds.

4. Rinse hands under clean, running water.

5. Dry hands on a clean towel or air-dry.

 

 

Cutting your nails, brushing your teeth daily, washing your body with soap, and trimming your hair to a respectable length are all part of personal hygiene and healthy habits.

Moreover, if you’re not feeling well, you should take steps to keep from spreading germs to others. This includes covering your mouth and nose when sneezing, wiping down shared surfaces with an antibacterial wipe, and not sharing any utensils.
