Below are a few of the controversies where Ellen was caught up in:
The extremely popular Dutch beauty YouTuber Nikkie De Jager, also known as NikkieTutorials, was one of the first people to speak about DeGeneres, saying on a talk show in her home country that the host was "cold and distant" during de Jager's appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
Moving on, after Nikki De Jager came forward with her comments on Ellen’s behavior, there was a Twitter thread that began in April saying that the popular host was one of the meanest people alive. This thread received more than 2000 replies.
Another person who joined in the shared his experience shortly after was the former DJ for "The Ellen Show" Tony Okungbowa stating “while I am grateful for the opportunity it afforded me, I did experience and feel the toxicity of the environment and I stand with my former colleagues in their quest to create a healthier and more inclusive workplace as the show moves forward," Okungbowa wrote on Instagram.
Moreover, DeGeneres’ apology came after one current and 10 former employees told BuzzFeed about incidents of racism and intimidation on the sets of the talk show. In a nutshell, Ellen has been under fire for making the workplace a living hell for several of the employees.
On the other hand, there were some celebs including Ashton Kutcher and Katy Perry who came forward and defended the popular host. Although, it seems that people who have seen Ellen up close or have worked with her can easily say that she’s not a pleasant individual to work with.
