When Prime Minister Imran Khan recommended Pakistanis to watch Turkish drama serial Dirilis Ertugrul, little did he know that the show would gain a cult following.

The Turkish drama series has not only gone to become one of the most-watched shows in the country but has also gained immense following, as can be reflected by the star cast of the show itself wanting to visit Pakistan and meet their fans.

Upon the show crossing 100 million views on YouTube alone, the lead actor of the series Turkish actor Engin Altan turned to his Instagram account and thanked his Pakistani fans and hoped to meet them one day.

Other actors of the show too wished to do the same as Pakistanis left heartfelt messages praising them on their respective social media accounts.

As if that was not enough, some Pakistanis residing in the city of Lahore have erected two statues in their neigborhood to pay tribute to the hit series.

According to a news story published in a local newspaper, two statues depicting Ertugrul on a horse has been built. One has been placed in the Maraghzar Housing Scheme situated along the Multan Road and the second would also be located in the same vicinity but will be called the Ertugrul Ghazi Chowk.

Ertugul Ghazi, originally called Dirilis: Ertugrul, is currently being aired on Pakistan television in Urdu language.
