Notable personalities including Mehwish Hayat, Shaniera Akram, Ayesha Omar, Asim Jofa, Humayun Saeed, and many others have demanded an across the board accountability after the devastation caused by the recent Karachi rains and the aftermath of it all. 

Mehwish Hayat did not hold back at all as she lambasted the authorities for their lack of planning, ineptitude, and complete disregard for the people of Karachi and their suffering. Many areas in the city were without electricity, internet, and cellphone for four to five days as knee-deep water remained stagnant on roads for days with no end in sight to the nightmare.

The authorities all went missing and Mehwish Hayat has demanded that those responsible for creating this mess in Karachi need to be held accountable.

The Tamgha e Imtiaz recipient laid into the authorities and urged them to return Karachi back to its glory days. She took to Twitter and tweeted angrily:

"My anger knows no bounds. How can a modern city like #Karachi not have the infrastructure to cope with rain in 2day's age?"

 The Load Wedding actress, who has always been vocal about societal injustices, be it in Pakistan or in Kashmir, has never been one to hold back and she has proved it yet again. She said those responsible for creating such an unliveable situation in Karachi should be held accountable. She added:

"Our suffering over the past few days proves that those responsible need to be held accountable! Heads have to roll or this will keep happening. Enough is enough!"

The metropolis plunged into darkness and chaos on Thursday as heavy rain and thunderstorm crippled the entire infrastructure of the city and exposed the gross negligence on part of its stakeholders. The torrential rainfall broke all previous records and damaged property as well as took many lives. 

Ayesha Omar took to Twitter and also demanded an across the board accountability of those responsible for this mess in Karachi. She said:

"With the videos, I’m seeing, the stories I’m hearing, its a National Emergency situation. People are homeless, stuck on the streets, or being swept away. Are there relief packages being prepared? Is help coming? When? @MuradAliShahPPP  #SindhGovt #KarachiSinks #KarachiRain"

She added:

"It’s time for accountability. It’s time to speak up. It’s time to take ownership. It’s time to demand our rights. Its time to heal. It’s time."
