On April 3, Pakistani actor Nadia Jamil revealed that she was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer with a grade three tumour.
In a post recently shared on the social media platform Instagram, the actor opened up about battling cancer alone, alongside the picture of her brother’s grave. Jamil visited the grave after 47 years.
“A few months ago I found the grave of my older brother. I’d never met him,” wrote Jamil, adding that after searching the graveyard all day, she almost lost hope of ever finding it.
She then continued talking about her battle with cancer and said “One is in one's cancer alone,” as family and friends eventually leave. The Behadd actor mentioned that it’s best to battle the disease in isolation as it connects one with God.
“Sleep, hunger everything wanes away... Slowly people fade away... There comes a time Allah must be enough. It's not easy. It scares the life out of me. But it is the ultimate purging of dependency on others and fear. I am alone. I am fine. In my seclusion let me find ways to be silent so I communicate only with the Divine,” she adds.
On April 5th, two days after the Durr-e-Shahwar actor revealed her diagnoses and mentioned that she was four days into treatment, she thanked her Twitter family for their prayers and support in a tweet.
“Post-surgery smile [for] my Twitter family. Thank [you for] your healing prayers & love! You are all INCREDIBLE. I am blessed,” she wrote.
