Nadia Jamil Opens Up About Battling Cancer Alone

On April 3, Pakistani actor Nadia Jamil revealed that she was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer with a grade three tumour.

In a post recently shared on the social media platform Instagram, the actor opened up about battling cancer alone, alongside the picture of her brother’s grave. Jamil visited the grave after 47 years.

“A few months ago I found the grave of my older brother. I’d never met him,” wrote Jamil, adding that after searching the graveyard all day, she almost lost hope of ever finding it.

She then continued talking about her battle with cancer and said “One is in one's cancer alone,” as family and friends eventually leave. The Behadd actor mentioned that it’s best to battle the disease in isolation as it connects one with God.

“Sleep, hunger everything wanes away... Slowly people fade away... There comes a time Allah must be enough. It's not easy. It scares the life out of me. But it is the ultimate purging of dependency on others and fear. I am alone. I am fine. In my seclusion let me find ways to be silent so I communicate only with the Divine,” she adds.

A few months ago I found the grave of my older brother. Id never met him. My love @elenih81 and i searched the graveyard all day and just when we were tired broken and ready to leave ...I saw it. His faded name in stone. We washed it as well as we could. Put whatever flowers we had on it. That's all that is left of him. That faded stone and the memories in my parents hearts. Today I'm thinking of my brother Today I'm thinking we drag so many people along in our lives. Some may not want to be there. Some do. But it's very few that will stand by you & live with you, take you on when you are sick, have #cancer. The #chemotherapy #hospital visits irritability.... It's a huge burden on those we love. And why should they have to take it. People have their own lives, troubles, struggles and journeys. One is in one's cancer alone. I can hold a friend's hand, smile at a tree, bask in the sun, but the disease is mine. It's best to battle it in seclusion. Seclusion leads to silence of the tongue and heart. And that leads to long talks with Allah. There are days my heart breaks for companions I miss, who are in their own life journeys, but I thank life for the beautiful journey I have had with them This is the time Nadia has to show her true courage. There is no one to lean on, no one to hold through frightening nights.... Just Emaan. And Nadia is a mom. She better get a grip and summon her Strength for her boys. The day before I thought it was gone. All strength. I was a coward. Fear of dealing with this path alone scared me to death. I made my son cry with my fear. But today I am here, alive and fighting again. Remember no one will fight these battles with you. Friend's can talk a while but why make your partner a carer. They have lives and dreams of their own. Sleep, hunger everything wanes away... Slowly people fade away... There comes a time Allah must be enough. It's not easy. It scares the life out of me. But it is the ultimate purging of dependency on others and fear. I am alone. I am fine. In my seclusion let me find ways to be silent so I communicate only with the Divine. Pray for me #cancerfighter #AloneWithTheAlone #healing #Trust #love
