Netflix Releases Trailer For The Late Chadwick Boseman's Final Movie
Chadwick Boseman to posthumously grace screens one last time
Streaming giant Netflix has unveiled the trailer for the late actor Chadwick Boseman’s final movie, the Oscar-tipped August Wilson adaptation Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.
The Black Panther actor tragically passed away after an extended battle with colon cancer in August this year at the age of 43.
The late actor stars opposite Viola Davis and has already been tipped as a contender for a posthumous Oscar for his performance in the film which tells the story of “Mother of the Blues” Ma Rainey, played by Viola Davis, and her battle for control with her white producer while recording an album at the end of her career. Boseman plays an ambitious trumpeter Levee.
Also joining Chadwick Boseman and Viola Davis is Fear the Walking Dead star Colman Domingo, and you can now watch the first promo.
Directed by George C Wolfe and produced by Denzel Washington, the film is based on a historically fateful recording session in Chicago in 1927; tensions rise between ‘Mother of the Blues’ Ma Rainey (Davis), trumpeter Levee (Boseman), and the white management bent on taking control of her creative. It is an adaptation of August Wilson’s 1982 play.
Denzel Washington said:
"He was a gentle soul and a brilliant artist, who will stay with us for eternity through his iconic performances over his short yet illustrious career."
