Netizens Criticized Ayeza Khan’s Role In Laapata
Ayeza Khan is seen as a Tiktoker in the latter drama!
Laapata was one of the drama serials that was highly endorsed even before the release due to the Star studded cast. However, as the drama was released, the audience raised some questions over the choice of characters. The drama is showing a typical love triangle and glorifying cousin marriage. The most prominent character is Ayeza Khan’s since she is acting as a TikToker. Her character strangely resembles “Meenu” from her previous drama “Chupke Chupke." Netizens openly criticise the choice of character and how Geeti’s character is not a perfect fit for Ayeza Khan’s nature.
Pakistani audience is accustomed to watching specific characters on specific actors. Hence, the same is happening with Ayeza Khan’s representation. Netizens commented that bubbly personalities can only suit particular actresses in the industry, and Ayeza Khan does not belong to that list. Some viewers also commented that the show seems to go down due to a standard script and overacting.
Severe criticism right after the first episode
It was too early to make judgements about Ayeza Khan's choice of the script until the cringe-worthy scene shown in the first episode where Ayeza Khan falsely accused a shopkeeper of harassing her. The scene was undoubtedly problematic and sparked a backlash for the reckless choice of topic.
The public is still flooding criticism on the internet over the immature character; one netizen commented, “She is a bit mature for her character." In fact, at some points, public found the character similar to “Geet" in “Jab we met” or Hania Amir’s character in “Dilruba.” It seems like the audience was looking forward to watching something fresh. Still, Laapata failed to serve any new content up till now.
