Sonya Hussyn Faces Social Media Backlash On A Sensitive Topic
Sonya in trouble after passing a comment on autism!

Prominent Pakistani actress Sonya Hussyn received a massive backlash on social media due to misinformation on a sensitive topic.
Her upcoming drama serial ‘Saraab’ is all set to get on-aired on Hum TV but before appearing on-screen, it has garnered attention of social media users. It all started when Sonya promoted her character in the drama. As she will be portraying a schizophrenic girl, the initial poster of the drama listed down many symptoms of this mental illness out of which autism was one of them.
Sonya captioned the poster on her IG account as, “If your #mentalillness makes you feel guilty, review the definition of “illness” and treat yourself with the same respect and concern you would show to a heart patient.”
Commenting on it, a fan mom who is a mother of two autistic children wrote, “Autism is not a mental illness, it is a disorder.”
Replying to it, the actress wrote, “It is one of the symptoms in schizophrenia.”Her comment brought rage and the users started calling her out for an uneducated comment.
Twitteratis are bashing Sonya for leaving a baseless comment about autism. Have a look at few critic tweets.

Not that I expect our celebs to be bastions of knowledge but about time they read up on what they're representing through art rather than try to use a cause to their benefit. Actors in Hollywood take months to understand and get into character. https://t.co/Nw1jbJPh4t

Giving her verdict, Sonya recently posted a big note on her IG account and captioned it as, "Amidst the debate, we should always remember to focus on the bigger picture. At the end of the day, we’re all hoping to spread more awareness about mental health and benefit the cause."
