Veena Malik's Custody Of Children: Deadline Assigned To Foreign Ministry
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has given a deadline to the Foreign Ministry to file a reply in the court following a petition filed by actress Veena Malik's ex-husband.
A petition filed by Asad Bashir Khattak, Veena Malik's ex-husband, was heard by the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court Athar Minallah.
During the hearing, the Islamabad High Court gave the Foreign Ministry a deadline to file a reply.
The court remarked that Asad Khattak had alleged that the Pakistani consulate in Dubai had misused its powers.
The Islamabad High Court directed the Foreign Office to file its reply regarding the violation of powers.
In the last hearing, Asad Khattak's lawyer had told the court that Asad Bashir is the father of 5-year-old Amal and 6-year-old Ibrahim, and both the children have US citizenship.
The court was told that a marital dispute between Asad Bashir and his ex-wife Zahida Malik alias Veena Malik was still pending in a court in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Asad Khattak's lawyer told the court that the said court in Dubai had issued orders on April 4, 2018, that his children could not be taken out of Dubai.
The petitioner's lawyer had alleged that Veena Malik, with the help of the consulate staff in Dubai, illegally transferred her two innocent children to Pakistan.
He had asked the court to take legal action against the Pakistani consulate members in Dubai, but the foreign ministry did not respond despite a court order.
Asad Bashir Khattak and Veena Malik were married in 2013 and divorced in 2017.
They have two children, who are currently in Pakistan with Veena Malik.
Asad Bashir Khattak has been claiming that he has custody of the children, and a Dubai court has issued orders that his children cannot be taken out of Dubai.
However, at the same time, they have been alleging that Veena Malik, with the help of the Pakistani consulate in Dubai, smuggled children from Dubai to Pakistan.
On the other hand, Veena Malik claims that the Pakistani court has entrusted the children's custody.
The two have also sent compensation notices to each other for making false allegations, while Veena Malik has also filed a Rs 1 billion compensation petition against her ex-husband in a Lahore court.
Veena Malik claims that the children were handed over to her by Rawalpindi Family Judge Afzal Ahmed Saqib on September 25, 2019. However, Asad Bashir Khattak claims that the Dubai court had ordered to keep the children in Dubai.
